It’s Not Too Late. And You’re Not Behind.

This week, I was back in Italy.

And Italy, as always, did what it does best: reminded me how to live.

No one’s gulping down coffee while staring at an inbox.

They take their time. Sitting and savouring.

Time in Italy feels like it’s had a good night’s sleep and knows its worth.

Exactly ten years ago this past weekend, I took another trip to Italy.

A retreat on the Amalfi Coast with my coach and mentor, Susan Hyatt.

That trip was a turning point.

The kind where your life doesn’t change in a thunderclap, but with a whisper:

You’re allowed to want more. You’re allowed to change.

Back then, I didn’t know what would come next.

Just that change was going to be pivotal.

So this past weekend, standing in that same country with a completely different life, I realised: ten years can go fast.

But also, look how far I’ve come.

I’ve built things.

A career. A business. A life.

I’ve burned out. Rebuilt. Pivoted.

I’ve said yes when it terrified me, and no when it finally didn’t.

Some things have gone brilliantly. Some things have been burning disasters.

Some things have been huge personal and professional rejections. Some have been wild successes.

But I am not behind. I am exactly where I should be. In the middle of it.

Even if it looks a little different to how I thought it might.

Some of those painful closures, doors slamming in my face, personal heartbreaks and slightly awkward side steps may not have been rejections after all.

They were just re-directions to something better. But I wouldn’t have had the opportunity if I hadn’t taken the step and taken the leap to make a change.

Time is precious. But there’s plenty of it left to do something bold, joyful, useful, yours.

If you just choose.

So, if you needed a nudge, here it is:

Take the bloody trip. Start the thing. Make the change.

Reclaim your seat at the table. Just make sure it’s the one you want to be seated at.
